NATIONAL MUSEUM IN KRAKÓW

PRELIMINARY DESIGN

The aims of this conceptual design was to create a entrance area and allow for the construction works to be done in stages and maintain a constant, ceaseless activity of the National Museum in Krakow. In the design process it was decided to raise a new entrance panel at the first stage of the investment. This panel is located in the west part of the land, in the area of the demolished technical and economic buildings. The multi-functional National Museum will have two entrances after the additional construction works: main entrance, representative, open to the front and side squares, the exhibition and didactic entrance open to the area in front of the Wyspiański monument. Both entrances will be connected by a open access, spacious hall, consisting of a sequence of high interiors, along which all auxiliary functions that serve the visitors of the Museum will be located. In this way, a new, friendly and open museum will be created, the front part of which will be equipped with a range of functions: museum shop, a bistro, a café, a restaurant, a viewpoint, a multi-functional rooms, didactic sets with a sequence of front areas will create a lively and attractive public space.
