FINAL DESIGN
One of the aims in design process of an A-class office park Bonarka Office Center (later named B4B) was to integrate the function of a massive shopping centre and a housing district designed nearby. Our solution assumes the use of office buildings as a functional and psychological buffer located between the centre and the housing part so that the entire construction can become integral urban structure. An old, dynamically illuminated chimney will constitute a visual symbol of the entire complex.
One of the most significant aspects of the project was to change the negative connotations of the citizens of Krakow towards the name Bonarka - the degraded industrial area - into a vision of a pro-ecological, friendly and attractive area. In order to achieve this goal, the use of all existing, natural attractions was recommended - parks, ponds, the vicinity of open space, a beautiful view to the south with green hills in the foreground, as well as a functional and spatial integration of particular urban unit around the public space of the main square, designed as an extension of the inner courtyard of the shopping centre. This plan corresponds to the function and nature of an urban market square, a place of various attractions: markets, fairs, concerts and exhibitions.
